Dal Baati - Recipe
Ingredients for Baati
Wheat Flour 200 gms
Semolina 10 gms
Clarified Butter 50 gms
Salt To Taste
Ingredients for Daal
Green moong daal 50 gms
Bengal gram 10 gms
Butter 20 gms
Garam masala ½ tsp
Red chilli powder 1 tsp
Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
Coriander powder ½ tsp
Salt To taste
Juice of half lime
Ginger ½ grated
Cumin seeds ½ tsp
Mustard seeds ½ tsp
Water 2 cups
Method for Baati
Sieve the flour and semolina
Mix in the 3/4th amount of butter
Knead using luke warm water to medium soft dough
Shape in the balls of around 20 gms each
Roll to about 4” diamater & bake it in the preheated oven to 200 degree centigrade
Once the crust is brown, remove and glaze with butter.
Method for Daal
Wash both daals. Pressure cook in one cup of water with turmeric for 14 minutes or till it is done.
Make a thin paste using water & all the spice powders.
Heat butter in a pan, add cumin, mustard & coriander seeds & allow it to crackle.
Now add ginger & paste of all the other spices. Fry for a little while (till the oil separates out).
Add daal and remaining water, bring to boil.
Add lime juice & garnish with chopped green coriander.
