Christmas
Though India is not a Christian
dominated land, even then the Christmas is celebrated throughout India with
same zeal and enthusiasm. The festivity during Christmas season highlights
the distinct facets of Indian society and wide culture. Christmas is
celebrated organizing a holy mass at midnight of 24th December. The mass
ends early morning on Christmas day. The whole family and friends get
together, and the Santa Claus and gifts are the top priority.
It is during the time of Christmas, in which the birth of Jesus Christ is
celebrated. The trees are decorated and taken into homes. These trees
represent the life of Jesus Christ and how He still lives on today. Some
Christians celebrate by lighting their houses with paper lanterns and
decorating their Christmas trees, which they call "Trees of Light,"
with paper chains, paper flowers, and paper lanterns.
Every house hangs a Christmas star regardless of their religion, all
throughout the season. It is a very holy time. Christmas is celebrated
mainly in coastal areas like Goa, Kerala and other south western areas.
